Don\\\'t Forget Your Toothbrush

Only one more day to go, and I'm starting to worry that I'm not panicking. My beautiful dog has been washed and groomed within an inch of her life, or is that MY life, as she's a long haired dog who hates being groomed. The cat has promised to survive until Christmas (she's 23, and a bit doddery. Do they make zimmers for cats?). The goldfish are well fed in preparation for the winter. My number 2 son is ready for school and his final year of A levels. My number 1 son is now financially independent (almost) and has no need of his mother for the next 4 months. And my other half will manage all of it seamlessly without my interference.

All my lists have been ticked and the first pack completed with room to spare.. What??

I MUST have forgotten something. I'm sure I have every medication available without prescription. In fact, 50% of my bag is toiletries and first aid. I could open my own pharmacy (Note to self: New career opportunity?). Clothes for every weather, underwear, shoes, sandals. I'm a past master (or is that mistress) after 25 years of business travel with hand luggage only. There's bound to be something missing but they have shops, don't they? All I need is my passport with visas, anything else, I can beg, borrow or steal (stealing not recommended in countries with Sharia Law).

Friends and family have said their goodbyes... well with the exception of one last tipple at our local hostelry, The Pen Y Bryn, on Friday night. A few tears have been shed for the time we will be apart but the world is a small place these days and phones and internet will be easily accessible in most places. Some of my friends are even more excited about my trip than I am, if that's possible .

We've started a game of I Spy.. Another Disaster on our Facebook group, Suicide bombers in Lahore, Volcanoes in Sumatra, Murder in Budapest, the list grows daily. But we are the Intrepid Oz bussers, travelling the world in search of adventure and excitement. We are not daunted by these events. We laugh in the face of danger. Haha. We could be run over by a bus tomorrow (oops, maybe I should withdraw that last statement). Like good Scouts we will Be Prepared for every eventuality and maintain a stiff upper lip (perhaps with a an occasional trembling bottom lip) throughout. It all adds to the excitement.

    What Vicki Did..

After 25 years of corporate travel in international sales and marketing, Vicki decided to chuck in her job and swapped 5 star hotels for budget hostels, tents and  a sleeping bag as she travelled the world. She's never had so much fun.
