What I took. What I should have taken. What I didn't need
CLOTHES
1 PJ Light cotton - essential when sharing dorms
2 Long trousers Light, zip off - only 1 pr was necessary. Used mostly in NZ against the black flies
1 Capri pants
2 Shorts
2 Shirts Long sleeved, lightweight - hardly used, I could have done without
7 T shirts (one long sleeved & warm was meant Nepal but used most in NZ)
1 Swimsuit - used once
1 bikini - 2 would have been better
1 Coverup for swimsuit but as extra shirt
1 sunhat floppy
1 Skirt Long, elasticated waist -
2 Scarf/pashmina - definitely for Iran
1 Flip flops - great on the bus and for most of the trip
1 Walking sandals (Merrells) - used most when flip flops died
1 Walking shoes (Meindl) - used in Chitwan with long trousers, stopped the leeches
1 Fleece micro - doubled as pillow
1 Fleece mid weight or jumper
1 Rain jacket Light
UNDERWEAR
4 Bras 3 regular + 1 sport
7 Knickers thongs +
4 Socks light cotton + 1 sport
EQUIPMENT
1 Back Pack 65/15l Hybrid with attached daypack,lightweight(<2kg)- with wheels might have been better
1 Sleeping bag (2 season - square, ultracompact) - a tough call as it was only needed in Oz, I didn;t take mine in the end
1 Liner Lifeventure, antibactieral, antimosquito,Silk, square - very useful against bed bugs, etc
1 Small day-pack or bag to carry your daily items
1 Sunglasses
1 Travel pillow neck pillow, inflatable
1 Money belt or pouch to hold your passport
1 Vaccination book
1 Water bottle at least 1.5 litre,
1 Earplugs - the silicone type that mould to your ear. I was surprised how useful &comfortable these were.
1 Eyemask - never used
1 Dry bags - useful for separating clothes
1 Swiss Army knife - used lots
1 scissors small
1 roll Duck tape - this was used up for various things from patching bags to crutches
1 small sewing kit as in hotels
1 universal drain plug - I didn't take and wish I had. Nowhere east of Europe has drain plugs!!
1 travel wash - shampoo also works
1 clothes line - elasticated pegless type works best. I wish I'd taken one
1 tote bag for laundry

Insect repellent containing Deet e.g. "Jungle Juice"

Headache tablets aspirin, paracetomol, ibuprufen
Plasters waterproof,
blister sticks,
Malaria tablets - Doxicycline(but everyone had a different view & some took nothing)
Imodium - I never used, but plenty did!

Antihistamine Clarityn
Antihistamine cream - Boots own brand ' Bite & Sting relief' seemed to give the best topical relief
