Only 2 more weeks to go and most of my lists are ticked off. There's no sign of an updated authorisation number for my Iranian visa, which means I will now need to wait until we get Istanbul to get it. I refuse to panic. But there's always that nagging doubt and the certainty that I have forgotten something important.
Today we were also told that it is unlikely we will be able to visit Pakistan after all, as a result of the extensive flooding which has covered the majority of the planned route. I have no desire to be a disaster tourist but am disappointed that we will miss this reputedly beautiful country and particularly the cultural capital of Lahore with its Mughal architecture. On Facebook, a discussion has started on what we could do to 'fill the gap'. An extended visit to Shiraz and Persepolis in Iran (visa pending) and some time on the beaches of Goa appeal to me
