The drive from Bandung to Pangandaran passes without mishap or delay. We have 2 nights in this town we have never heard of and can hardly pronounce. What a surprise as we drive along the beach front full of stalls and pull up to our hotel.
LUXURY!!!.
Mega bedrooms with 2 massive king size beds per room, all facing over a lovely swimming pool and the beach itself on the other side of the road. Mine has its own balcony facing onto a side street. Sun, sea, sand, peace, quiet, a laundry service and a good wifi connection. What more could a girl ask for? I settle in to catch up a bit on my blog which has gone unattended for some time. Some go for a splash in the pool or, better still, the sea. Others go out and come back having searched and failed in the hunt for ATMs and alcohol. Then someone found THE ATM and someone else discovered Bacardi Breezers. Phew. I finish up on the computer and decide to go out and enjoy the sun before it disappears over the horizon. Oops, I’ve spoken too soon as the lightning cracks out at sea and a few drops of rain start to splash as I step out to take a look around. As the lightning continues to dominate the sky, the rain comes to nothing. Passing by a few street food stalls I am tempted by the smell of bbq. Sate ayam (chicken skewers with peanut sauce) has to be the best invention ever and this stall is the best I have ever tasted. Clutching my little paper pyramid filled with 10skewers and a cupful of sauce for 10000 rupiah (60p) I am in heaven wandering down the street.
